Angry Zendalaby *Llyzabeth

My entry for

's "Opposite" challenge over on #Zentangles-Applied.

The challenge was to create a zendala that's the opposite of what you'd normally do. Which turns out is a lot harder than I thought. I mean, how do you opposite-doodle?

So I made mine a lot darker than I normally would, and except for the edges there's no curves, it's all straight lines, instead of all the twisty shapes I usually use. It's an open frame too, instead of having everything all tightly contained.

Plus, I don't know, most of mine tend to be pretty upbeat, so I did what I could to make this...angry? With spikes and broken glass and teeth and nails and...angular...spiral..things? Whatever, if it's not angry it's at the very least disgruntled about something.

Ink on paper, cleanup in Photoshop.

Teeth, broken glass, the silhouette of a deserted city-scape, and what looks like a scatter of paper pieces from when someone's ripped something to shreds and thrown it away. Nicely angry!

And for some reason the narrow bands bisecting the shape made me think of that plastic tape that usually reads, "Police Line, Do Not Cross". It makes the design look angry AND forbidden.
