12-point map star

I used to make these all the time, and then got out of the habit. Back then I was making them out of old textbooks. I think they're more interesting this way. (It's an old road map of Florida, in case you wanted to know.)

I'd like to make something a little more useful though, since these would be good for Christmas decorations and not much else. I'm thinking miniature paper lanterns...

I found instructions for this at FeliciaYT on youtube, though that's a 14-point star. Same idea though.
